The Girlchild Totalcare Foundation was initiated in 2024 when a group of friends came together with the intention of giving back to the society. They were inspired by the fact that corporate leaders can’t expect governments to solve the problems of a Girl Child alone.
What triggered these thoughts was the liberalisation of the girl child in 2023, which brought with it immense opportunities. Disposable incomes and early settlements became a living reality for the working middle-class. For the first time in my life, I saw professionals could think beyond making a living, and contribute towards the society.
The Girlchild Totalcare Foundation is a catalyst in the change cycle, complimenting and supplementing government efforts to achieve sustainable development goals and achievements. We sensitize and partner with like-minded institutions and individuals to implement high-impact programs that enable access, enhance quality, and help bring long-term behavioral change at the grassroots level.
Girlchild Totalcare Foundation is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to elevating the lives of girl child, through our vision.
The Girlchild Totalcare Foundation is to empower the girl child, through relevant education, innovative healthcare and hygiene, mentorship and coaching, etc. The Girl Child Foundation is to deploy best possible methodology and technology for achieving ideal SROI (social return on investment), to practice and promote good governance. To link business competitiveness of the corporate with social development initiatives; also to sensitize privileged girl child in general to promote Civic Driven Change.
The Girlchild Totalcare Foundation has always looked upon its own role as that of a catalyst, a means of setting in motion and accelerating the process of development for the girl child. But the true potential for bringing real, long lasting change, lies with the civil society. Not remaining restricted to the community, and with the aim of achieving sustainable development in a wider social context, Girlchild Totalcare Foundation has adopted the principle of Civic Driven Change, making the civil society an active partner in all its welfare initiatives for the girl child.
We encourage eminent public figures and celebrities to take up their social responsibility and uphold good causes and right values, as known faces become role models of the society they are part of. We have also made short films and documentaries highlighting vital social issues and disseminated them through mass mediums like television, cinema and social media. In addition to this, mass sensitisation and awareness campaigns, and several other initiatives are undertaken regularly to engage different sections of the civil society.
Social Venture Philanthropy (SVP) is an innovative model based on the business concept of venture capital. Under SVP, Smile Foundation identifies and implements its development projects through credible community based organizations. We also handhold and build capacities of these organizations, focusing on achieving scalability and sustainability, creating a culture of leadership and excellence and inculcating a deep sense of accountability among them.
Under the outreach model, Girlchild Totalcare Foundation implements the development interventions directly as it requires intensive and professional engagement for a wider and sustained outcome. While working in remote rural areas, we realized that an intensive on-ground intervention is needed, which might be beyond the capacity of community-based organizations. Hence, we directly implement such projects, liaising with local community stakeholders for better social return on investment.
Credibility and accountability have always been the benchmark for Girlchild Totalcare Foundation and are achieved through the promotion of principles of good governance in the processes and practices. We have a four-tier audit and evaluation mechanism to ensure the impact of investment and complete transparency and accountability in the utilization of funds.
